Alamo Lake State Park

The setting for Alamo Lake is beautiful, rugged desert framed by mountain peaks. The lake is situated along the Bill Williams River where the Big Sandy and Santa Maria Rivers converge. Construction of the Alamo Dam in 1968 formed this reservoir for flood control and the lake can expand rapidly during flooding.
The lake is a great fishing destination for bass, bluegill, channel catfish and crappie. Fishing tournaments are held throughout the year. There are also designated camping areas that are perfect for those who want to enjoy the desert evening and starlit sky. In the spring, wildflowers and cactus blooms dot the landscape. The lake also attracts a variety of wildlife including waterfowl, coyotes, deer and wild burrows along with golden eagles.
Fall through spring are good times of the year to visit since summer temperatures can be brutal. Entry fees are $7 per car (up to 4 adults) or $3 per individual/bicycle. An Arizona fishing license is required for those who intend to fish.
